Max is one of the most famous and mysterious crystal skulls in the world. He is an ancient artifact made of clear quartz, carved into the shape of a human skull. He is estimated to be thousands of years old and has been used by Mayan priests, Tibetan lamas, and modern healers for various purposes. But what is the origin and significance of Max the Crystal Skull? And what are the secrets he holds for humanity?
The Discovery of Max
Max was discovered in Guatemala in the early 20th century by a Tibetan healer named Lama Norbu, who was trained by the Red Hat sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Lama Norbu had traveled to Guatemala to study with the Mayan priests, who used Max as a tool for healing, rituals, and prayers. Lama Norbu was given Max as a gift when he left the Mayans to continue his journey as a healer. He eventually settled in Houston, Texas, where he founded a healing foundation and kept Max on his altar.
Lama Norbu met JoAnn and Carl Parks, a couple from Texas, who had a daughter named Diana who was dying of bone cancer. Lama Norbu offered his healing services to Diana, but she passed away at the age of 12. JoAnn Parks became a close friend and assistant of Lama Norbu, and helped him with his foundation. Before Lama Norbu died, he gave Max to JoAnn Parks, without explaining much about the skull's history or purpose. JoAnn Parks did not know what to do with Max, so she stored him in a closet for many years.
The Revelation of Max
In 1987, JoAnn Parks saw a TV show that featured Nick Nocerino, a renowned crystal skull researcher and owner of another ancient crystal skull named Sha Na Ra. She contacted Nocerino and learned that he had been searching for Max since 1949, when he had seen a photograph of him in an occult magazine. Nocerino confirmed that Max was an authentic ancient crystal skull, and one of the rarest artifacts ever found on the planet.
JoAnn Parks decided to share Max with the world, and began traveling with him across the country and abroad. She allowed people to have personal sessions with Max, where they could touch him, meditate with him, or ask him questions. Many people reported having profound experiences with Max, such as visions, healings, insights, or emotional releases. Some people even claimed that Max spoke to them telepathically or through dreams.
Max now resides with Jenna Pierson in Malibu, California.
The Mystery of Max
Max is one of the few crystal skulls that have been scientifically tested and verified as ancient. He is made of clear quartz that has no bubbles or inclusions, which is very rare and difficult to carve. He has no tool marks or scratches on his surface, which suggests that he was not made by modern methods.
The origin and purpose of Max are still unknown. Some believe that he is connected to an ancient legend that speaks of 13 crystal skulls that hold the wisdom and knowledge of humanity's past, present, and future. According to this legend, when all 13 skulls are reunited, they will reveal their secrets to humanity at a time of great need. Others believe that Max is a portal to other dimensions or realms of consciousness, where one can access higher guidance or healing energies.
Max is more than just an object; he is a living being with a personality and a mission. He has been described as gentle, loving, compassionate, humorous, playful, wise, powerful, and mysterious. He seems to have a connection with children and animals, who are often drawn to him. He also seems to have a preference for certain people or places, where he feels more comfortable or active.
Max is a wonder of the world that invites us to explore the mysteries of ourselves and our universe. He is a gift to humanity that offers us healing, guidance, and transformation. He is a crystal skull that has a heart and a soul.
Max the Crystal Skull has an interesting name; JoAnn Parks was told by the crystal skull that its name was Max. Many of us have read the story about Max and how JoAnn came to receive this crystal skull. Norbu Chen received the skull from the Maya and gave the skull to JoAnn in payment for a debt owed. Now Max resides with Jenna Pierson in Malibu, California.
What does the name Max mean to the Maya? In the book “Maya Cosmos: 3000 Years on the Shaman’s Path”, Linda Schele and David Freidel described the origin of the word Max. Max is a Chamula Maya name for monkey like creatures from a previous creation. Remember, the Maya believe there have been four previous creations, like the Hopi, and we presently exist in the fifth creation cycle. So, the name Max is very ancient. In the Popol Vuh myths, the wooden men of the second creation, who were dispersed by a flood, turned into these creatures.
The Chamula Maya have a festival they call the Carnival of San Juan Chamula. It is a five-day festival that incorporates various aspects of Maya history. The festival freezes history and tells a tale about the cycle of time and how it repeats itself. It is full of dancing, offerings, fireworks, music, food, and drink.
Rather than go into detail on the festival itself, a very brief synopsis will be given. The Max represents chaos and banishes the Sun-Christ to the darkness of the Underworld. The Sun-Christ is rescued out of the Underworld by celebrants running the Path of Fire.
Max was used for healing by Norbu Chen and is still a tool for healing in the hands of Jenna Pierson. Many times, healing of our world comes at a cost, or in cycles, requiring painful growth or change. The Max of the previous creation represents change through chaos and the Maya recognized them as tricksters. Many cultures saw the trickster as both the hero and the villain of the story, one day being the savior, and the next day being the destroyer.
So, the name Max has very deep roots in ancient history. In English we pronounce the name as it is spelled, in Mayan the name is pronounced “Mash” with a short “a” sound like in the word father.
